Lauren Meredith

Lauren is a committed and passionate member of atWork Australia’s senior leadership team, having driven lasting outcomes within the business across strategic communications, marketing, tender procurement, business development and project roles over the past five years.

She has more than 10 years’ senior professional experience spanning healthcare, employment services, energy, business and marketing consulting. Before bringing her firm leadership skills to
atWork Australia, Lauren led the marketing and communications function for the Australia/New Zealand arm of a global business consulting firm.

Lauren has held varied roles during her career. She began her working life as a registered paediatric nurse at Perth’s largest children’s hospital, providing clinical care across the specialty areas of neonatal intensive care, infants, orthopaedics and plastics, oncology and adolescents (including psychiatric care).

She values the holistic and often life-altering transformation that can occur for our clients and their families when they are supported with the right care. Lauren strongly believes that it is a true privilege to work in this industry and be able to play a small part in that.

Rob McCasker

Position: Manager — Employment Services
Location: WA

Rob is a senior member of atWork Australia’s NDIS services team. Over the past six years, he’s played a significant role in supporting people with disability to find work or study, build resilience, and participate more fully in the community.

He has made a particularly lasting contribution to participants in our School Leaver Employment Support service, which builds the abilities and confidence of young people to get them ready for life beyond school. Hundreds of students have benefited from his team’s support and training.

The role involves devising tailor-made plans to build employability and foundation skills over time, as well as setting up work experience opportunities in inclusive environments. Rob believes the working world is changing for the better as a result of inclusion, and the recognition that those living with disability bring new thinking to products and customer service.

He has considerable experience working with clients from diverse backgrounds, including First Nation’s peoples, those living with autism spectrum disorder, and individuals who are non-verbal or identify as transgender.

Luke Hazelwood

Position: Positive Behaviour Support Team Lead
Location: WA

For the past three years, Luke has been an NDIS Behaviour Specialist, supporting his clients with strategies for achieving their goals so they can engage meaningfully in the community and improve their quality of life. He often employs traffic light behaviour management to help children with the skills they need for emotional regulation.

Earlier, Luke was employed for two years as an NDIS Team Leader for a mental health group home, where his responsibilities included staffing, mental health management, community access,
stakeholder and guardian meetings, and leading group activities.

For five years, Luke worked as a Special Education Teacher (early intervention), supporting children aged 4 to 8 with their sensory and emotional needs in the primary school environment.

Luke has great empathy for people living with disability and their families and carers, having entered the world of disability at age 5 as a young carer. He understands what it’s like to move from helplessness to having something to fight for, and uses his experiences to help others make this leap for a better life.

Sean Howells

Position: Employment Advisor

Working from his home town of Newcastle, Sean enjoys being an advocate and support for people living with disability or mental health condition. He loves helping his clients gain meaningful
employment and find purpose in life.

As an experienced Employment Advisor, he finds it especially rewarding when working with someone who doesn’t believe they have the necessary qualities for success, and seeing them overcome their barriers and transform into a confident and driven individual.

Before joining the NDIS team of atWork Australia, Sean spent three years as a youth and disability support worker in Newcastle, assisting clients from age 9 to 90 with daily living, socialisation, and behaviour management.

He then transitioned into the recruitment sector in Melbourne for two years, in a role that involved hiring people to perform a similar position in disability support.

Later, a move to the UK saw him recruiting for non-profit organisations in London, before moving to Manchester to work in jobs, education and training for prestigious youth charity the Prince’s Trust, founded by Prince Charles.

Xue Fang (Bernice) Low

Last year, Bernice worked as an NDIS support worker, assisting participants to develop daily living skills and increase their capacity for self-care. The role involved engaging in safety planning, risk assessments, strength identification, and individual recovery plan development.

Bernice wanted a career that involved helping people understand their behaviours and feelings, and improving their quality of life. She believes her work can have a great impact, and that every day she and her colleagues make a difference to the lives of people we support and their community of family, friends and carers.

Bernice has participated in training to develop suicide prevention skills, as well as mental health first aid. She is an active volunteer at the Samaritans Helpline, providing crisis support to people in the community dealing with feelings of depression, sadness, loneliness, and despair.

Bernice joins us to begin her two-year internship program after completing her Bachelor of Psychology degree.

Brian Widiodarmono

Position: Employment Advisor

Brian has extensive experience supporting people into meaningful employment, and strong networks with employers across metropolitan Perth.

Before joining our NDIS team, he worked with the JobActive program, getting to know job seekers and working closely with them to identify career goals and the pathways to achieving them. He connected people to education and training courses, referred them to our psychologists and career counsellors, and assisted them to become work-ready.

Brian also helped parents of children under the age of six to plan and prepare for employment by the time their child started school, through the ParentsNext program. He worked with his clients to help set education and employment goals, and linked them to services and activities in their local community. He is skilled at working with people from different backgrounds and age groups, and helping them to overcome anxiety, lack of confidence and skills, connect them to suitable training opportunities, and find good work.

Volunteer work has long been a priority, with Brian working to support the Smith Family, the Trigg Surf Life Saving Club, the Auscontact Association, and Shenton College through their Friends of Music group.

Emily Willis

Position: Provisional Psychologist

Emily started her journey within the NDIS space in the mental health not-for-profit sector, supporting people to implement their plans within a mental health recovery framework.

She then progressed to providing trauma-centred therapeutic support, working with adults who have experienced extreme trauma, or live with intellectual and psychosocial disabilities, in both
community and prison-based settings.

Her responsibilities were to enhance an individual’s and their support network’s capacity to positively manage their health, welfare and life needs.

Emily enjoys supporting individuals and their families to live fulfilling lives in the spheres of mental, physical, and social wellbeing, and is looking forward to continuing to make meaningful, positive impacts in the lives of others.

Covering the Perth metropolitan area, she is a recent psychology graduate and will be working with both psychology and Positive Behaviour Support clients.

Kristy has more than four years of experience as a Disability Employment Services Consultant, working collaboratively with her clients to help them achieve their goals and enhance the quality of their lives.

With experience providing a participant-focused service for adolescents, adults and families from diverse backgrounds, Kristy is focused on providing her clients with personalised support to determine their unique skills and interests, career options, and reach their career goals.

Her day-to-day responsibilities involve facilitating regular appointments, arranging ongoing training and development activities, and monitoring attendance and participation in work experience opportunities. She concentrates on building confidence and skills in time management and mcommunication, and finding sustainable jobs that people are ready for and want.

Lily Murphy-Hughes

Position: Customer Service Administration

Lily has been with atWork Australia for nearly three years, in various roles. She started in a position facilitating the assessment and payment of wage subsidies for jobactive, before moving to the Disability Employment Services branch where she became their first wage subsidy specialist.

For these roles, Lily liaised with businesses and supported them in ensuring clients were working enough hours to meet their mutual obligations, and that they were eligible to receive the wage subsidy.

Lily has significant experience working with children living with disability, having previously worked in a primary school as a teacher’s assistant. She worked with children between the ages of 5 and 8, with and without disability. During this time she also volunteered with Mercy Care, where she worked with children with autism, cerebral palsy and intellectual disability. She firmly believes in equality. Lily believes this involves supporting people with disability to be the best version of themselves, and to live as independently as possible and feel part of their community. She feels the most rewarding part of working in this sector is helping people gain meaningful opportunities, and watching their confidence grow.
