Recruiting and training indigenous jobseekers for your specific business needs
atWork Australia is committed to sustainable Indigenous employment. We have been helping Indigenous jobseekers into employment since 2003; placing over 1,300 people into work, including 330 people under the VTEC program since 2014.
Driven by employer needs
Under VTEC, atWork Australia tailors recruitment, training and support to suit your business, matching the right candidates for your organisation from our pool of Indigenous jobseekers. The approach means a productive employee from day one of the job, giving you access to the best people for your business.
The VTEC way of doing things is driven by employer needs. You can work with us on the overall skills your organisation demands, and the jobs you need filled. We identify the right indigenous candidates to ensure they are trained specifically for your business needs, for your roles, to meet your needs and reward your commitment.
What is a VTEC?
As a Vocational Training and Employment Centre (VTEC), atWork Australia connects Indigenous jobseekers with guaranteed jobs and brings together the support services necessary to prepare jobseekers for long-term employment.
The guarantee of a job before job-specific training starts is the key feature that ensures:
- Vocational or job-specific training is directly related to available jobs
- Employers recruit Indigenous jobseekers with the right skills for specific jobs
- Jobseekers are responsible for opting into available jobs
- A jobseeker’s upfront commitment is rewarded with guaranteed employment
How it works in WA
We were proud to be awarded the very first VTEC contract in Western Australia and atWork Australia’s specialist VTEC employment consultants have placed 330 indigenous Australians into guaranteed jobs since 2014.
Through community collaboration, atWork Australia links Indigenous candidates to a guaranteed job at the end of their training. The process is effortless for you as the employer, but the cogs behind the program are constantly working to ensure success.
atWork Australia manages the program to match your needs. We partner with local community groups who provide mentoring, jobseeker engagement and support services to VTEC jobseekers.
We partner with South Metropolitan TAFE to ensure quality training and education services for VTEC jobseekers to meet the requirements of participating employers.
These services are provided to achieve successful outcomes at no cost to the employer or jobseeker.
Award-winning services for you
We feel privileged to deliver VTEC services for both employers and indigenous jobseekers. Passionate about getting it right, we do a good job. We are extremely proud of our VTEC team member, Rob Beattie who won the 2017 NESA Excellence in Indigenous Employment Award. Read more about how Rob and the team support Indigenous jobseekers. We also work with the 2016 NESA Champion Employer of the Year. You can also read about how this strong partnership is driving employment opportunities for Indigenous Australians.
