52-year-old, Workforce Australia client, Adam* had been out of work for the past 16 years. Without any real routine, Adam was feeling unmotivated and not taking care of himself.
He was connected with Job Coach Imran at the Sydney atWork Australia office for support to progress towards employment.
Together Adam and Imran discussed that the first step for Adam to progress towards employment was to start introducing a routine back to his life.
“We discussed participating in in-person group activities,” said Imran.
“By being around people, at a specific time, Adam would need to reintroduce routine into his life.”
He was referred to MTC’s Career Transition Assistance. He successfully attended all four weeks at the course.
To keep up the momentum, Adam was also referred into the Money Minded course for assistance with budgeting and finances.
“After completing these courses, Adam started presenting well to his appointments,” said Imran.
After this progress, they started talking about Adam’s career and employment goals.
“He expressed that he was interested in record management or administration,” said Imran.
“It was great to see motivation and drive in Adam.”
atWork Australia supported Adam to enroll in a Certificate III in Business (record and information management), which he is now completing to upskill himself for future employment.
“atWork Australia’s support and guidance have boosted my motivation and helped me establish a consistent routine. I feel more focused and driven than ever before,” said Adam.
