21-year-old First Nations client, Dion had never held paid employment. Dion had been working with many service providers and wasn’t sure of the direction he wanted to take with work, as he had external factors impacting his motivation.
He had recently been without stable housing for three months and his mental health had been impacted.
When he was connected to atWork Australia in Marrickville, they referred him to our Jobs for the Mob program to help him identify his goals and the steps he could take to reach those goals.
Dion was also referred to our inhouse Wellness Services for support with his mental health.
Through Jobs for the Mob, Dion identified he wanted to work in hospitality. Susan, facilitator of the Jobs for the Mob program, then supported Dion to tailor his resume and prepare for interviews within the hospitality space.
The Jobs for the Mob program gave Dion the confidence he needed.
“The Jobs for the Mob program helped Dion to build his confidence and be able to say – I am ready to find a job, and I will find a job,” said Susan.
“During the program, I saw Dion’s confidence within himself grow.”
Now feeling motivated to find a job, the Jobs for the Mob program helped Dion learn more about job searching to find the perfect role for him.
It wasn’t long before he had applied for a role and landed an interview.
“I am thankful to have an opportunity to attend the Jobs for the Mob program,” said Dion.
“I learnt a lot from Susan on how to be prepared and positive for entering the workforce.”
“She helped me prepare for my interview and I’m feeling confident to attend. I would highly recommend Jobs for the Mob to others.”
“I am thankful to atWork Australia, and Susan my facilitator, for helping me build my confidence and motivation to find a job,” said Dion.
