When Inclusive Employment Australia client, Duncan, first connected with atWork Australia he had a lot going on.
He was experiencing grief, working through health concerns and overall feeling a lot of stress.
Duncan was connected with Job Coach, Mykie, who was understanding and supportive. Mykie explained to Duncan how atWork Australia could assist him including connecting him to external services for support.
Mykie was patient, listening to Duncan’s concerns, history, his passions and his employment goals.
Duncan needed a confidence boost, and to reduce some of his stress, so Mykie organised interview clothing so Duncan could look his best and supported him with fuel and transport costs.
With this little bit of financial support, Duncan felt ready for work.
So, Mykie started calling employers on his behalf to connected him to a suitable role. Duncan was hoping to return to work as a forklift driver in warehousing.
Mykie continued to motivate Duncan, including purchasing personal protective equipment for Duncan for when he found his new job.
Soon Duncan landed employment as a forklift driver.
“He was so happy he literally left the office shouting ‘woohoo’,” said Mykie.
“Mykie was supportive and encouraging and offered clothing and fuel to get me to interviews. This took a lot of the pressure off me and allowed me to focus on employment,” said Duncan.
Duncan landed work right before Christmas and is thriving with a supportive employer and with the atWork Australia team by his side.
“After two years of unemployment, I returned to work,” said Duncan.
