Workforce Australia client, Emily’s last place of employment had a negative impact on her mental health, resulting in her taking some time off work to focus on her family and look after her children.
Now that she was ready to return to work, she wanted to ensure it would have a positive impact on her life.
She needed to change industries but without an income from work, she didn’t have the spare funds to complete the upskilling necessary.
Emily also needed casual employment with flexible hours to suit her parenting responsibilities, and she had found it hard to address the gap on her resume with potential employers.

Emily decided to pursue traffic control and atWork Australia helped her enroll into a course and complete a white card.
She was supported to purchase the personal protective equipment she would need. It wasn’t long before she landed work in traffic control.
“Emily said that her first day was amazing, however her two-way radio wasn’t working,” said Alisen.
“We were able to act quickly and support her to purchase a new radio to be available for more shifts.”
Emily is now working in a role that suits her needs, and she is currently studying a Certificate III in Business for her future long-term goals.
