First Nations client, Emily, had everything she needed to progress into the Community Services industry.

She had her Certificate IV in community services and an Assistant in Nursing certificate. Her attitude was vibrant and she had a wonderful energy that would suit the industry well.

However, when Emily lacked confidence in interview techniques and she couldn’t shine during her interviews.

Emily was connected with pre-employment facilitator, Wendy, and the Jobs for the Mob program.

The program supports First Nations clients with goal setting, and pre-employment skills including interview skills and resume building.

Emily also mastered the art of storytelling through the STAR interview technique. The STAR technique involves answering a question by outlining a specific situation, task, action and result.

Through Jobs for the Mob, Emily built her confidence with interviews. She now approaches them positively without fear.

“Emily has improved a lot of skills including how to answer behavioral and situational questions using the STAR formula,” said Wendy.

“Emily is attending interviews now more positively and is confident she will receive job offer soon.”
