Disability Employment Services client Jessica was walking past the atWork Australia office in Mowbray, Tasmania when she felt drawn to come in.
She shared with the Job Coach, Kiri-Lee, that she wanted help to find employment, however, was living with anxiety after a previously bad experience at a job.
“Jessica shared that she was hoping that atWork Australia could help boost her confidence and find her a role she would enjoy,” said Kiri-Lee.
Jessica has always had a passion for the retail and hospitality industry and wanted to challenge herself to gain the skills and knowledge needed to flourish and grow.
Kiri-Lee suggested Jessica complete some online training in a food handling course to expand her skills. atWork Australia covered the costs of the enrolment.
Then Kiri-Lee started to call employers on Jessica’s behalf to enquire about vacancies and learn more about the roles.
She came across a small business that had a shop/food assistant role available.
After speaking with the employer, Kiri-Lee felt this role would be a great fit for Jessica and her goals.
She organised an interview which Jessica excelled at, and was offered to start work the very next day.
atWork Australia supported Jessica to complete her police check and purchase work clothing.
Jessica has been enjoying her new role and now looks forward to going to work.
“Every day I wake up knowing I will enjoy going to work,” said Jessica.
“Jessica is now working towards a secure and stable career,” said Kiri-Lee.
