When she met with Job Coach, Viviana, from the Hurstville atWork Australia office, she shared her current financial hardship.
Her confidence was low, and she wasn’t sure what type of work she was interested in. She also couldn’t afford any additional training, or to travel to attend interviews. This was also impacting her mental health.
Viviana got to know Flora, and they workshopped some industries and types of jobs she might be interested in.
“Flora knew she loved working with people in customer service style roles, and we landed on retail being an industry she would be interested in,” said Viviana.
From here, Flora was referred to our Wellness Services for support with her mental health.
She was also provided with food and fuel vouchers, and clothing to support her to feel more confident in interviews.
She participated in our in-house Money Minded course to boost her budgeting and financial skills.
“Flora said that every time she participated in a pre-employment support program, she felt more confident within herself to present to an employer,” said Viviana.
Flora also participated in a short micro credential course called ‘The Retail Service Experience’ to gain new qualifications and upskill in the retail industry.
After this training, Flora applied for a retail position, interviewed and successfully landed the role.
