21-year-old Jayden had never held long term employment. He had limited work experience and wasn’t sure what direction he wanted to take.
He shared with his Job Coach, Aimee, that he thought maybe a job in construction would be suitable.
To support Jayden be more competitive for positions in this industry, Aimee suggested he focus on gaining his driver’s licence.
Jayden was financially supported with driving lessons to gain his P plates, opening the door to more job opportunities.
During this time Jayden received a health diagnosis which meant construction was no longer a viable long-term career option for him.
He spoke with Aimee for career guidance and mentoring. Aimee encouraged Jayden to step outside of his comfort zone and be open to opportunities as he didn’t yet know what he liked and didn’t like.
Jayden started to upskill in hospitality and atWork Australia supported him to complete a course in bar skills.
Jayden attended a few interviews for hospitality but found there were many people interviewing, and the competition was tough, so he wasn’t successful in gaining a role.
He then spotted a role for a ward’s person at the local hospital.
Something he hadn’t considered previously, but after being encouraged and supported by Aimee, Jayden decided to give it a go.
As he progressed through the long interview and onboarding process, Aimee supported him with the checks he needed such as a working with children check.
Jayden successfully landed the role.
“His confidence has grown massively,” said Aimee.
“Jayden is now looking forward to what the future holds with goals of moving out into his own place and buying a car.”
“Aimee has helped build my confidence and supported me to try new things and step outside of my comfort zone,” said Jayden.
