Jessie had recently moved to the Wollongong area from the country town, Griffith. He had dreams of becoming a real estate agent and while he had worked hard to gain the required training, he was finding it hard to land employment in the industry.

“Jessie shared he had been applying for just about anything,” said his Job Coach, Aimee.

“He was starting to lose hope that he would ever find work.”

Jessie had attended several interviews, but his low confidence and limited work experience meant he wasn’t successfully progressing.

This was impacting his self-confidence. Aimee continued to encourage and motivate Jessie.

“There were times when I didn’t think I was going to find any work, especially after all the knock backs,” said Jessie.

Jessie decided he would like to try working in logistics, and Aimee supported him to enrol in a

transport, postal and logistics course.

With this new qualification, and an updated resume, Jessie began to apply for roles in this industry with the support of the atWork Australia team.

He then got the call which put a big smile on his face – he had landed an interview as a delivery driver.

Aimee jumped into action and supported Jessie to purchase interview clothing and work wear to boost his confidence during the interview.

“After all the knock backs, it was important for Jessie to feel like his most confident self in the interview,” said Aimee.

“With new clothing, a new qualification and knowing atWork Australia was behind him all the way, he went into the interview confident in his abilities.”

Jessie was successful in the interview, and Aimee supported him to gain a copy of his driving record for the role.

“Aimee has helped me so much,” said Jessie.

“She helped me quickly get everything I needed for the job and supported me every step of the way.”

While Jessie had to change course many times during his employment journey, with the right support his still reached his overall goal of meaningful and sustainable employment. He now continues to be supported by the atWork Australia In-Work Support team.

“Job Coach, Aimee, believed in something I couldn’t see. When I received that call to come in for an interview, I was over the moon,” said Jessie.
