Hussein had spent the last three years caring full time for his mum. He was feeling financial pressure, his confidence was low and he felt like there weren’t many employment opportunities that suited his circumstances.
He met with his Job Coach, Alex, who worked on a plan to meet Hussein where he was at in his employment journey, focussing on small steps to achieve his overall goals.
Alex referred Hussein to our Money Minded course for support with budgeting, and financial planning.
Hussein successfully finished the course and felt more confident in his abilities.
“I wanted to show Hussein that with positive support and mindset, any goals could be achieved as long as he put in the time and effort to focus on it,” said Alex.
Hussein then successfully completed a first aid certificate further expanding his qualifications, and motivated to succeed.
He raised his barriers with Alex including needing afternoon work so that he could continue his caring responsibilities and his limited transport options.
Alex encouraged Hussein, showing him there are jobs available that meet those requirements for him. Hussein was interested in warehousing work and began to start to attend interviews.
He was not always successful in his interviews, but with Alex’s continued encouragement, and interview coaching he soon landed a full-time role in warehousing.
