When Kyal first connected with atWork Australia he felt like work was out of reach for him. Having recently been released he thought no one would give him a chance.
Job Coach, Maddison, took the time to get to know Kyal. She connected him to the Jobs for the Mob program which supports First Nations clients prepare for employment by learning how to set goals, update their resume and connect with cultural support.
Through the program, Kyal realised he needed support to gain work related skills to enter employment.
He was connected to a course to complete a Certificate III in Information Technology and gained a white card.
With this support, Kyal began to trust in Maddison and realised he was supported to find employment. He started to believe in himself.
“atWork Australia’s support has helped Kyal believe in himself and know that others are here to support him with his goals. He isn’t alone,” said Maddison.
Kyal was also connected to our in-house Wellness Services for additional support along the way.
Soon atWork Australia advised Kyal of an opportunity to work in events, setting up and packing away staging.
Kyal was keen to give it a go.
He was again supported with work related clothing including steel cap boots and high visibility clothing.
He then got to set up the stage for a Metallica concert. A big milestone for Kyal on his journey to employment.
