Leaha is living life without the worry of unemployment

Today, you can find Workforce Australia client, Leaha driving little buggies by West Beach SA, as she works in her role as a housekeeper at a holiday park.

However, before this, Leaha had lived with the uncertainty of unemployment. Since 2020 Leaha hadn’t been able to find sustainable employment. She was also experiencing some troubling times in her personal life.

When she was connected with atWork Australia in Richmond, her Job Coach, Joel, supported Leaha by connecting her to our in-house Wellness Services.

“Being supported by the Wellness team was a great experience for Leaha,” said Joel.

“It helped her feel ready to knuckle down on her job search.”

Joel then supported Leaha to create her Seek account and apply for suitable roles.

Eventually Leaha received a call back from a job they applied for together.

Joel helped Leaha with interview clothing, transport and funding for clearances for this role.

After troubleshooting the clearances and identity documents for a couple of weeks, they were able to be fully cleared, and she was successful in landing the job.

“During this period, Leaha was also called in for an interview with another business which really helped boost her self-esteem, making her feel wanted and employable again,” said Joel.

Leaha has now found employment in a job she loves by the beach.

“She has mentioned she is overjoyed with this as it allows her to live her life without the worries of being unemployed. It has been great to see her energy return throughout her time with atWork Australia,” said Joel.

“I am so grateful for all the help, guidance and support I received from everyone at atWork Australia,” said Leaha.

“Joel was particularly supportive when I needed a little bit of extra help, always making time to squeeze me in the calendar to help troubleshoot any difficulties I was facing.”

“I want to thank Joel for providing such a comfortable environment for me and allowing me to open up and be myself. I felt like he was truly looking out for me,” said Leaha.
