Mature aged client, Sam*, was looking for a new job. He had limited digital literacy skills, which impacted his ability to have a standout resume.
He shared with his Job Coach, Jessica, at the atWork Australia Berala office, that his goal was to work in a kitchen environment in aged care.
Jessica supported Sam to build a standout resume that would help him find meaningful employment.
Sam was enrolled in some short accelerator courses to add new qualifications to his resume. He participated in an Individual Support course, which helped him plan and prepare for work, and follow safe work practices for direct client care.
These micro-credential courses helped build Sam’s confidence, and with a new resume highlighting his skills and abilities, Sam began to apply for roles.
“Through these external supports, Sam has gained more skills and qualifications which has increased his self-belief in obtaining long term employment,” said Job Coach, Jessica.
Sam attended his appointments every fortnight, sharing with Jessica which jobs he had applied for.
Jessica also connected Sam with our Employer Engagement Team who organised interviews for Sam.
He attended them all with confidence.
Soon, Sam landed a role as a Kitchen Hand. A role he is enjoying and thriving in.
