Workforce Australia client, Gabby is a single mother of a child with complex needs. Gabby also lives with mental health conditions.
While Gabby was looking after her child, she studied and earned her bachelor’s degree in arts, she also had a strong work history in administration.
She met with her Job Coach, Aimee, at the Corrimal atWork Australia office, hoping for some part time administration work around her caring responsibilities.
“As a single mother living with mental health, trying to return to the workforce was extremely hard. My journey has been slow and sometimes frustrating,” said Gabby.
Aimee referred Gabby to our in house Wellness Services for additional support with her mental health.
Understanding Gabby’s needs, Aimee recommended Gabby to a role with one of our employer partners, Serco.
With Gabby’s background and work history, she would fit well in a customer service role, working from home.
This would allow her to work flexibility around her needs.
“Through Aimee’s job referral, I have gained a position that suits my needs. Not only can I see the light at the end of the tunnel but can start thinking of the bright future that awaits my child and myself,” said Gabby.
After Gabby’s personal experiences, she had a dream of becoming a counsellor to help others
Job Coach, Aimee, supported Gabby to enroll in a Diploma of Counselling which she is completing around her work and caring schedule.
This course will help Gabby progress her career even further.
“Since working with Aimee, I have become more confident, and I felt heard at every appointment,” said Gabby.
