Isabelle arrived at her first appointment with Inclusive Employment Australia, Job Coach, Mykie, feeling very nervous.
Mykie took the time to get to know Isabelle. He understood she needed a role that would be flexible to her health schedule with specialist appointments, and one that supported her desire for routine.
He learnt that Isabelle was passionate about marine life, especially sharks, and that she was part way through an interior design course due to her interest in art.
“Isabelle had a fantastic attitude, bubbly and friendly, and always smiling even while managing multiple specialists and services,” said Mykie.
“My goal was to tailor the support to Isabelle’s needs including identifying employers who would be supportive for her health needs. I also wanted to find her a role she could be excited about.”
“Through many laughs, and big yaps, we’ve gotten a good foundation of the type of work I’d enjoy while also managing my physical health. I have no doubt I will be back in the workforce soon,” said Isabelle.
Mykie, and the employer engagement team at atWork Australia, then began to call employers on Isabelle’s behalf.
Soon she had an interview with a ceramic studio. Isabelle attended the atWork Australia office before her interview and practiced interview questions with Mykie. They looked at how it relates to her previous experience, and her current study.
Mykie provided Isabelle with a fuel voucher to attend the interview and shared how atWork Australia could support her with specialised shoes if she was successful in the role.
“I was very hesitant about how beneficial and productive employment services would be,” said Isabelle.
“My mental health has seen improvements. My confidence in being able to work again has finally been nurtured thanks to the gang at atWork Australia.”

The atWork Australia team caught up with Isabelle shortly after her job interview. She expressed her love for the owner and how supportive they were. She was given the news that she was successful and they’re extremely keen on making her part of their team.
