“Job Coach, Neha’s, check-in’s, enthusiasm, positivity, and kindness, helped me feel supported to return to work.” – Thanh-Thuy

Thanh-Thuy had been working as a hairdresser for 16 years, but she could no longer sustain her job. Thanh-Thuy was living with carpel tunnel syndrome, a shoulder disorder along with anxiety and depression, impacting her ability to work.

When Thanh-Thuy first started working with her Job Coach, Neha, she indicated that while she was motivated to enter the workforce again, her physical health concerns were worrying her.

Together with Neha, she worked through her skills and interests to find a new career path that aligned with her strengths and goals.

“I encouraged Thanh-Thuy to view employment as a positive experience. One that would allow her to financially sustain herself and improve her mental health through the social interactions and personal growth work offers,” said Neha.

Thanh-Thuy was encouraged to take her journey at her own time and was encouraged to be open with her doctors and her support system.

Unsure what career path would be the best option for her, Thanh-Thuy was enrolled into a food handling certificate.

“While she decided not to pursue hospitality, completing this course was crucial in getting her job ready,” said Neha.

“It allowed her to develop the confidence she needed to believe she could find employment.”

Cleaning was an industry Thanh-Thuy was interested in, so when she was ready, Neha called employers on her behalf. Neha made sure employers would be inclusive and supportive of her needs.

This led to a work trial, and Thanh-Thuy was successful in securing the job.

“The employers have been very patient and caring in their interactions with Thanh-Thuy, offering her an additional work trial, when requested, to ensure the role was the right fit,” said Neha.

“I am so happy with the support I have been given. This is not something I could have done on my own,” said Thanh-Thuy.

“Job Coach, Neha’s, check-in’s, enthusiasm, positivity, and kindness, helped me feel supported to return to work,” said Thanh-Thuy.
