Disability Employment Services client, Tracy, came to atWork Australia for support to change careers. At 58, Tracy had been working as a hairdresser but wanted support to find something that would be a better fit.
She discussed with her Job Coach the parts she enjoyed about being a hairdresser and what she was looking for in a future career.
Tracy loved the connection she had with her clients in her hairdressing work. After a few discussions, Tracy decided to pursue support work, so she could continue to connect with others and do something with purpose.
Tracy had only been working minimal hours in her hairdressing role and needed support with food and fuel vouchers from atWork Australia.
atWork Australia also supported Tracy to financially pay for her yellow and blue card, her first aid and CPR certificate and a police check to prepare her for support work.
Then the atWork Australia team connected Tracy to an employer, to start her new career.
Once she began in her new role, she was connected to In Work Support Coach, Maddison.
She shared with Maddison that she was really enjoying her new role and working with purpose. She wanted to upskill further and learn even more about the new industry.
Maddison helped Tracy enroll in a Certificate III in Individual Support.
“Tracy is looking forward to gaining her Certificate III in Individual Support, and expanding her knowledge of the industry,” said Maddison.
Tracy has a goal of completing her certificate in the next 12 months, and Maddison will help her find a new higher position to gain additional hours.
“Maddison has been a wonderful support, and I couldn’t have succeeded without her assistance,” said Tracy.
