Ben is originally from Brazil. He moved to Australia to study. His aspirations and hard work led to Ben successfully completing two advanced diplomas.
He worked as a project manager until one day Ben was made redundant due to the effects of the Covid 19 pandemic.
At the time Ben wasn’t worried as he believed he would pick up another role quickly. However, he was impacted mentally and emotionally when a year later he still hadn’t been successful in an interview.
The impact of this meant Ben was at risk of insecure housing and finding it hard to afford basic needs such as food.
Ben was connected to atWork Australia Job Coach, Iosefo, who referred him to our in-house Wellness Services for support with his wellbeing.
Then Iosefo focused on supporting Ben to improve his resume and interview skills to support his applications.
He was referred to an internal course on tailored resume development and interview preparation. Ben was also supplied with a laptop to participate in virtual interviews, something very common for project manager roles.
“I sat with Ben during some of his virtual interviews,” said Iosefo.
“From the feedback of these interviews, we looked at ways to become better prepared, and more competitive for future interviews.”
Now showing more confidence in his interviews, Ben landed a role as a project manager.
“The support made a big difference in Ben’s journey to acquire financial stability,” said Iosefo.
“His new job has made him jovial again as it boosts his confidence to live a better life.”
