With the support of atWork Australia, Kylie can stay in a role she enjoys

Like many Australians’, 1.7 million according to the latest ABS data, Disability Employment Services client, Kylie, was underemployed.

She was connected to atWork Australia in Laidley for support to gain additional hours in employment.

When she first met In Work Support Coach, Emma, Kylie was concerned she would be pressured into finding a new job.

Kylie currently worked at the local pub as a cleaner and bartender.

Without a driver’s licence and living with disability, Kylie knew this role was accessible and worked for her and her needs.

Her overall goal is to stay on top of her health and mental health, to be able to live a happy and wonderful life.  This job was a perfect fit for her goals, and she enjoyed working at the local pub as she felt like part of the community.

“Kylie was wanting to stay employed at her current place of work,” said Emma.

“I assisted Kylie by listening to her needs and wants and worked with her to turn her role into something more sustainable.”

Kylie spoke with Emma and together they worked out a plan moving forward. Emma contacted Kylie’s employer on her behalf.

“Kylie’s employer said they love having Kylie on board, and were open to working with me,” said Emma.

Emma connected Kylie’s employer to government incentives available for supporting people living with disability into meaningful employment.

This allowed Kylie’s employer to provide her with the additional hours she needed to continue working in this role she was thriving in.

She is grateful for atWork Australia for working with her to meet her goals.

“Kylie is grateful to atWork Australia for the support she has received to gain the extra hours she needed,” said Emma.
