Workforce Australia client, Xuan, had never held paid employment. At 40, she was looking to enter the workforce for the first time.
As the main carer for her children, managing full time study, and a language barrier, Xuan was facing barriers entering the workforce.
She was however determined. She was already studying a Certificate III in Individual Support in Aged Care.
“Xuan expressed a desire to work in the Social and Community Services industry,” said her Job Coach, Swapna.
While Xuan was completing her study and work placement, atWork Australia supported her to gain her Food Safety Certificate, NDIS and Working with Children checks, so she was well prepared for any roles which might become available when she was ready.
Swapna then started calling employers on Xuan’s behalf to enquire about roles available. An employer showed interest and was invited to the Parramatta site to meet and interview Xuan.
With Swapna by her side, she attended the interview, performed well, and was offered a full-time Support Worker role. The job she had always wanted.
“Xuan’s determination, resilience, and the support she received helped her achieve her goals,” said Swapna.
“She is now a confident woman, thriving in her new full-time position and proud of how far she has come.”
“I am committed to working from the heart and I am passionate about the lives of those in my care,” said Xuan.
