Young Workforce Australia client, Armando, was ready to start looking towards a career. He just wasn’t sure what direction to take.
At 21 years old, Armando had mostly worked in gyms and had been a national boxing champion in his youth. However, as he was moving into adult life, he was starting to experience financial hardships and was looking for a career with his overall goal of being self-sufficient and financially stable.
Job Coach, Margie, worked with Armando to look at his interests, potential career paths including work that would support him to reach his goals.
Armando decided to pursue traffic control, and with Margie’s assistance they mapped out a tailored path and employment plan for Armando to reach that goal.
The first small steps included participating in a Money Minded budgeting course to support Armando learn the skills he needed to support himself.
He was also referred to a traffic management course. The course required Armando to have the correct personal protective equipment, and atWork Australia supported him to buy a radio, and the clothing he needed.
At the completion of his course, and as part of the training program, Armando was connected to an employer and is due to start work in the next couple of weeks.
