Jodi first came to atWork Australia looking for stable and meaningful work after years of irregular cleaning shifts. Initially she thought the food services industry would be a good fit for her due to the flexible hours.
The atWork Australia team supported Jodi to enrol in a Barista course and connected her to a work experience program. Through this experience Jodie learnt that the food services industry was not the right fit for her.
Jodi worked with the atWork Australia team who provided career coaching and insight into the local labour market. From here Jodi decided to pursue Individual Support.
atWork Australia enrolled Jodi in a Certificate III in Individual Support. While she was studying the team regularly checked in to see if she needed any assistance.
Once Jodi had completed her study, atWork Australia’s employer engagement consultant, Mary, connected Jodi to a casual role as a disability support worker.
From here Jodi was connected to our In-Work Support Coach, Anthonette.
Anthonette supported Jodi to complete additional qualifications so she could take on more tasks and responsibilities at her new workplace.
This included Subcutaneous Injections and Diabetes Management, and Assisting clients with medication.
When Jodi’s CPR certificate ran out, she was further supported to refresh her certification.
Jodi’s employers are very pleased with her work, and the support provided by atWork Australia.
“The employer was impressed by Jodi’s performance, and she was told she may be offered a permanent part-time contract after her six-month probation,” said Anthonette.
