Charli had an employment background in Administration and had also worked for the Australian Royal Navy. She had taken some time off work to raise her child and when she was ready to return to work, she connected with atWork Australia for support.
Finding work within school hours was proving difficult. Charli was also living with anxiety.
Her Job Coach, Gelyn, referred her to our internal wellness services for support with her anxiety, and offered flexible servicing such as phone appointments when needed.
Gelyn ensured Charli’s appointments were only within school hours and encouraged her that it was possible to find work within those hours also.
Soon Gelyn connected Charli to a role at Australia Post, an employer who atWork Australia frequently collaborated with.
atWork Australia knows the employer to be inclusive and understanding, so when Charli advised them she was the primary carer to her child, they were able to give her shifts within school hours.
The role was 9.30 am to 2.30 pm, providing Charli with the opportunity to do school pick up and drop off. She was also assigned to the nearest location to her home.
Gelyn supported Charli with a fuel voucher to attend her interview and medical required for the role.
“Charli is regaining her self-confidence again now that she is back at work,” said Gelyn.
Once she started, she was transitioned to our InWork Support team who regularly keep in touch with Charli. For example, InWork Support Coach, Joel, checked in with Charli as her pay date was a day after her Services Australia reporting date which can make reporting tricky.
Charli is now thriving in her role and has meaningful work within school hours.
“Job Coach, Gelyn, was supportive, friendly and very helpful with my situation. I also gained employment with a well-recognised company and couldn’t be happier,” said Charli.
