At 21-years-old, Chelsea was looking for her first job. She was connected to Job Coach, Marcia, at the Warrawong atWork Australia office.
From their first meeting, Marcia could see Chelsea lacked confidence and self-esteem.
Marcia referred Chelsea to our Wellness Services to start working with a team to help build her confidence.
Marcia also learned that Chelsea wasn’t too sure where she wanted to work, or what kind of work she wanted to do.
To help her gain some direction, Marcia recommended Chelsea attend our First Steps to Success event which brings together employers, training organisations, and the community in one location. This would provide Chelsea with the chance to meet a range of employers from a range of different industries.
At the event, Chelsea was introduced to a bakery owner, who was well known for their amazing cakes and bakery goods. Chelsea was interested in the jobs available and with the support of the atWork Australia team she was put forward for the role.
Chelsea was successful and is now an Apprentice Pasty Chef.
“With the support from Wellness, the Employer Engagement team, and the employer, we have collaborated together to make this dream a reality for Chelsea,” said Job Coach Marcia.
“We are excited, Chelsea is excited, and so is her mum.”
“I’m so excited to be starting my first ever job,” said Chelsea.
