When Job Coach, James, first met with Christine she wanted employment, but she had no idea what kind of work for her and her circumstances.
At 58 years old, a parent to a son with special needs, and the primary carer for her elderly father, Christine wasn’t sure what type of employment would fit her schedule.
However, as a single mother, with these responsibilities, Christine needed employment to support her financially.
She had so far applied for many jobs and had been unsuccessful. She was beginning to lose motivation of ever finding suitable work.
James worked with Christine to update her resume and referred her to our in-house wellness services for support with her wellbeing.
He called employers on Christine’s behalf, and soon she had a handful of interviews lined up to attend.
“Christine was overwhelmed with gratitude that she kept thanking me,” said James.
In her next appointment, they discussed her interviews. She hadn’t heard back about a hospitality interview she had but had two more interviews coming up that week.
James and the atWork Australia team supported Christine with fuel vouchers to attend the interviews.
Soon Christine informed James of a second interview she had a local sports club in a role as the Duty Manager.
Christine now meets with atWork Australia’s In-Work Support team who check in with her to make sure her work life balance is working for her needs, and if she needs any additional support in the workplace.
“I’m grateful for atWork Australia’s support. I’m really enjoying my new role,” said Christine.
