Darrin had recently been made redundant from his long-term job. On top of this Darrin was experiencing housing instability.
He wanted to find work quickly and was open to any kind of work. The only requirement Darrin had was that the job had to last him until retirement.

Job Coach, Adrian, referred Darrin to atWork Australia’s Jobs for the Mob program. A pre-employment program for First Nations clients aimed at supporting them in their job search.
“Attending Jobs for the Mob was a big influence for me,” said Darrin.
“It helped me open my mind that if I want to find a job I will. Where there is a will there is a way.”
Adrian saw Darrin’s confidence begin to shine.
“I reminded Darrin he had 42 days to complete his reporting, and he replied that he was aware but confident he will have secured employment before then,” said Adrian.
After participating in Job for the Mob, Darrin landed an interview.
“Darrin always had a smile on his face. He was always seeking feedback on his resume and applications,” said Susan, Jobs for the Mob facilitator.
Within three months, Darrin was back in work. He credits Job for the Mob facilitator Susan for helping him prepare to return to work.
“Susan was very helpful. There should be more teachers like her and more programs like Jobs for the Mob,” said Darrin.
