First Nations client, Matt, used to work in construction. He was connected to atWork Australia after being without work for a few years.
During this time Matt had lost his confidence in interviews.
When he shared this with Job Coach, Pravin, he was referred to atWork Australia’s Jobs for the Mob program.
A First Nations specific program focused on setting work and life goals, and the steps needed to reach those goals.
Through this training Matt identified his long-term goal to find stable, full-time, employment in the traffic control or warehousing industry.
To achieve that goal, it was identified that Matt would need to participate in some upskilling including a traffic control course, and a forklift ticket.
Matt’s Job Coach, Pravin, is working with him to enrol in the courses he needs to reach his goals.
Being able to see this new goal clearly, and the steps to get there, has given Matt a new confidence.
“Jobs for the Mob supported Matt to build his confidence and see the best version of himself,” said facilitator, Wendy.
“He is now seeing things in a more positive way.”
Through the Jobs for the Mob program, Matt also learnt techniques to answer interview questions.
He will now practice those techniques with his Job Coach as he takes another step towards his long-term goal of full-time employment.
