Proud Noongar yorga (woman) Rosanna has six children. She had returned to work in a fly-in fly-out utilities role and had been promoted to head housekeeper. Then she experienced a relationship breakdown which caused her to lose her job and was very traumatic.
After some time, healing, Rosanna was connected to the Workforce Australia team in Ellenbrook. Rosanna had big goals, she wanted to work as an Aboriginal Education Assistant working with the community during school hours so she could look after her younger children.
Rosanna’s Job Coach referred her to atWork Australia’s Jobs for the Mob program which develops fundamental job skills including goal setting. The program would support Rosanna to identify the steps she needed to take to achieve her long-term goals.
She was enrolled in a Certificate III in School Based Education Support and atWork Australia organised a laptop to complete her studies.
Rosana then found out she required glasses, and the atWork Australia team financially supported her to purchase the glasses so she could continue her study.
“Rosana completed Jobs for the Mob, gaining momentum and career goals to aim for,” said facilitator, Maureen.
Rosanna was also connected to Waalitj Foundation for additional support. The foundation focuses on improving the employability of First Nations people through group sessions and individual support.
“Waalitj and Jobs for the Mob is helping me gain industry connections for the job I want,” said Rosanna.
“atWork Australia has helped me in so many ways. With my glasses, laptop, my online training, jobs for the mob and connecting me to Waalitj.”
“atWork Australia has encouraged me to believe in myself and move forward,” said Rosanna.
