27-year-old Workforce Australia Client, Shakira, expressed to her Job Coach, Alex, that she finds it tough to hold a job for long as she experiences a lot of stress.
Due to her past experiences, her limited English skills and a limited support network, Shakira also had low self-confidence.
Alex connected her with our inhouse Wellness Services for support of her self-confidence.
“Shakira was shy, and lacked confidence, when she first started with atWork Australia,” said Alex.
“Over time, she gained motivation and the confidence to try and achieve her employment goals despite her worries.”
Alex shared atWork Australia’s belief in how finding the right role would result in meaningful and sustainable employment.
Shakira was referred to the Employability Skills Training (EST) program to support in her goal to retain employment. The program would support her to develop skills employers were looking for, explore career options and build some workplace and industry specific skills.
Through the program Shakira completed a Certificate in Aged Care and finished a Barista course.
“With assurance and guidance, Shakira became invested in upskilling and never shying away from trying new employment opportunities to find the right job for her,” said Alex.
Shakira is still currently on that journey to find an industry and role that is the right fit for her. When she has found work, and realised it wasn’t the right fit, Alex has been by her side encouraging her to keep trying.
“I’m grateful for the assistance from Job Coach Alex, who never gives up on me and always is patient to help me with my journey to stable employment,” said Shakira.
