Workforce Australia client, Sheradon, had limited work experience. She had worked in hospitality and retail but found the hours to be inconsistent.
She shared with her Job Coach, Aimee, at the atWork Australia Corrimal office, that she wanted to explore other industries. Something in business, administration or customer service for example.
She had even started studying business and tourism to expand her skills and knowledge.
However, after applying for many roles outside of hospitality or retail, and not hearing anything back, her self-confidence was low.
“When I started working with atWork Australia, I was struggling with my self-confidence,” said Sheradon.
“I was applying for so many roles and not even getting a call back, or an interview.”
Sheradon was connected to atWork Australia’s in house Wellness Service for support with her self-confidence. She was also connected to organisation Dress for Success, to find an interview outfit that would further enhance her self-confidence.
“We wanted Sheradon to explore options she didn’t think were possible, and expand her self-confidence,” said Aimee.
She was supported by atWork Australia to gain her drivers licence with lessons through a driving school.
Aimee also helped Sheradon to re-write her resume to target the roles she wanted, highlighting her skills and abilities.
The atWork Australia employer engagement team soon connected Sheradon to a customer service role through one of our national employer partners.
“Sheradon’s confidence has improved massively. She is confident, happy, and proud of what she has achieved over the past few months,” said Aimee.
“I have now secured full time employment finally! I feel confident starting my new job,” said Sheradon.
