“Connecting Fernando to unique upskilling opportunities helped him connect with employers and return to work.” – Ayah, atWork Australia Job Coach

Fernando put his own career goals on hold to look after his mother full time. After four years out of employment, he was ready to return to work.

He had applied for many roles and was starting to lose hope of returning to work.

“Fernando expressed he was interested in pursuing cleaning due to the flexibility and opportunities available,” said Job Coach, Ayah.

Fernando was supported to enrol in a short course in cleaning operations.

He then participated in an Identify and Prepare for Employment program (IPEP) with atWork Australia and employer, Maid My Day.

The IPEP program is a co-designed bespoke training course, designed with the employer, to support clients prepare for specific roles available with the employer.

During the program, Fernando, learnt skills required specifically for the role. He also met with the employer, and practiced interviewing for the specific roles available.

After participating in these programs, Fernando was offered four jobs. He chose to work for Maid My Day as he already had a good understanding of the workplace culture.

“Being able to connect directly with the employer before interviewing, supported Fernando with his confidence and knowledge of the role,” said Ayah.
