Sean finds meaning and purpose through employment

Sean had been running his own landscaping business for the past few years. He then needed to take some time off to look after his health.

When he was ready to return to work, he wanted to do something ‘more meaningful’.

Sean shared with his Job Coach he wanted to work in community services but wasn’t sure how to make that happen.

The atWork Australia team in Heatley, Queensland, supported Sean to complete his NDIS screen as the first step. He then quickly landed work with a small employer to support a single older person.

Now that Sean had work, he was supported by atWork Australia’s In Work Support Consultant, Stacie.

Feeling confident in his ability to work in this new industry, and with a little bit of experience now with him, he shared he wanted additional hours. More than just hours, Sean also wanted to help more people.

Stacie connected Sean with Employer Engagement Consultant, Tracey, who worked with her network of employers to find Sean additional hours.

It wasn’t long before Tracey connected him with another employer so that he could work the hours he desired.

“Working in aged care gives me a sense of appreciation and allows me to contribute to the lives of very interesting people,” said Sean.

Now working for two employers and  helping many older Australians, Sean continues to be supported by Stacie and the atWork Australia team.

“atWork Australia helped me find meaning and purpose through employment,” said Sean.
