Tash had worked as a nurse for most of her life until a spinal injury meant she had to reassess her place in the workforce.
Tash was connected to Job Coach, Maks, for assistance to redefine a new career. Together they talked about Tash’s interests and hobbies, and she decided that in an ideal world she would like to pursue graphic designer.
Maks encouraged Tash, and they began to explore if the work would be suitable and investigated courses.
“Tash wanted to find a career she could transition into that didn’t impact her back injury and was something she could use her passion and people skills in,” said Maks.
Tash signed up for a Certificate IV in Design with the support of atWork Australia. Collaborating with the local TAFE to ensure she could participate in the course with adjustments such as a sit stand desk.
“Tash has found great joy in the course so far and has built great connections in class, whilst also creating some cool projects and learning creative design programs,” said Maks.
Tash also obtained a scholarship for a $300 grant to get Adobe Editing. While atWork Australia supported her to purchase a macbook required for the course.
“Maks warm, friendly, professional support throughout my time with atWork Australia has helped me to work towards a new career to fit in with my permanent disability,” said Tash.
“He has strived and worked alongside me to help me achieve my long-term dream to re-educate myself so that I can be integrated back into the workforce. He worked with me to make sure I had the chance to start studies as soon as possible with equipment I need to achieve my dream in a new career.”
