Phebe loves caring for animals. She completed a Certificate IV in Veterinary Services and had tried to find a job in her field but had been unsuccessful.
She connected with atWork Australia and Job Coach, Atharva, for assistance to find work. Phebe lives with disability and her goal was to find a job working eight hours a week.
With very few animal care roles available, Atharva helped Phebe explore other roles through career guidance.
As Phebe had a passion for caring for animals, they discussed roles caring for people instead.
Together they amended her resume, and Atharva introduced her to potential employers and assisted with food and travel vouchers when needed.
atWork Australia’s employer engagement team introduced Phebe to an employer who had a role available as a cleaner/kitchen hand at a care facility.
Phebe gave the job a go and is now enjoying caring for others.
“Phebe is coping well with the pressure of work and is considering studying nursing or something relevant later down the line,” said Atharva.
“Since she has started in her role, discussions have been had with the employer to offer more shifts to Phebe as she likes the work.”
“Phebe is enjoying financial independence thanks to meaningful employment,” said Atharva.
