“I appreciate the support and belief that atWork Australia had in me.” – Mitch

Workforce Australia client, Mitch*, was looking to make better choices in his life. Having recently been released from prison, he was looking to find employment and choose a new path.

For many years, Mitch had been applying for work and often landing interviews, but he was overlooked and unsuccessful due to his background.

“Even though Mitch’s confidence was low, he showed up to every appointment,” said Job Coach, Corey.

“Mitch shared he just wanted to be given a chance to contribute meaningfully to society, and to have a fresh start.”

Corey didn’t give up on Mitch and continued to look at new opportunities and pathways to employment.

Corey referred Mitch to our employer engagement consultant, Ben. Ben conducted a mock interview with Mitch and was really impressed with his attitude, determination and resilience.

Soon Ben had an opportunity with an employer for a labouring role. While Mitch didn’t have all the required experience, Ben was willing to advocate for him to the employer.

The employer agreed to give Mitch an interview and was also impressed. He decided to give him a one-day trial to see if he would be a good fit for the job.

“Mitch did so well in the trial, he was offered permanent employment,” said Corey.

Mitch is now being supported by our In Work Support team as he settles into his new role.

“I appreciate the support and belief that atWork Australia had in me,” said Mitch.
