Emily is a young woman who was connected to atWork Australia through the Inclusive Employment Australia program.
Emily set herself very clear goals she wanted to be in a business traineeship by Feb 2026 and have her driver’s licence, so she was able to get to work.
Job Coach, Jaylee, connected Emily to ‘Women can’ driving program for assistance with driving lessons. After a few lessons, Jaylee then supported Emily financially to sit her drivers licence test.
Emily passed her test, just in time to start her new job in a business administration traineeship.
“Emily put in the hard work, she showed up to every meeting, applied for jobs, attended interviews and all the activities I organised for her,” said Jaylee.
Jaylee further supported Emily by calling employers on her behalf. Through this process Emily landed an interview.
“Unfortunately, Emily was unsuccessful in the role, however the employer really liked Emily and created a position just for her,” said Jaylee.
“I am thrilled to be employed full time. I’ve only worked part time in the past so I was worried about how I would cope but it’s been amazing,” said Emily.
“Having a work schedule has introduced more structure into my personal life too and I believe that I’m happier as a result.”
“Being employed full time also means that I have the money to afford the things I need without having to debate about which bills I would be willing to pay late to be able to afford them.”
“Having a full-time job has also helped me to feel more equal in my relationship, as it feels like I am less dependent on my partner.”
“Thank you, Jaylee, for helping me on my employment journey,” said Emily.
