First Nations client, Michael, with the support of atWork Australia, found employment as fencing labourer.
He was then connected to In-Work Support Coach, Anthonette, for continued support to reach his long-term employment goals.
“Michael is a polite young man, who’s been through many barriers,” said Anthonette.
“This hasn’t stopped him from working hard to gain employment, in a role he loves.”
When he first started work, he shared with Anthonette that he wasn’t gaining enough hours to reach his goals.
He provided Anthonette with permission to contact his employer. She called his employer, advocating for Michael and sharing all the support atWork Australia can offer.
Michael’s employer let Anthonette know that if Michael could gain his working with children and police check he could work on additional jobs.
Anthonette supported Michael with these checks and his hours increased. She told his employer he could contact her whenever he needed.
A short time later, he asked if she could support Michael gain a set of his own tools so he could work more independently and gain further hours.
atWork Australia supported with this request.
Michael is a father to a young child and lives with mental health conditions.
As the hours increased, Michael found he needed additional support with his mental health, juggling his family life, and work.
Anthonette supported him by connecting him to our Wellness Services for support.
