Francisco commenced with atWork Australia with an accomplished academic background. He had completed a Bachelor of Counselling in May 2023 and a Master of Counselling and Psychotherapy in May 2025.
Francisco had a goal to become self-employed within his new profession.
During his first appointment with Job Coach, Imran, they spoke about the types of assistance atWork Australia could provide to help Francisco progress towards his goals.
As he had been out of the workforce for a while concentrating on study, Francisco was referred to a short Business Accelerator Course to learn about the new technologies used in the workplace.
He was then connected to a Sydney Business School to learn about setting up your own business.
“After I finished my full-time study, I was introduced to Imran, who was part of Workforce Australia. As a person with a disability, he has provided invaluable guidance in helping me to develop my professional skills,” said Francisco.
“Imran referred me to a City of Sydney business course for start-up businesses, helping to guide me through the legal, accounting, tax, marketing and budgeting issues in running a small business.”
Imran then support Francisco to pay for his Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) membership.
“Imran has been supportive of my work in obtaining appropriate accreditation with the NDIS, particularly as a Behaviour Support Practitioner, to provide counselling services to clients with a disability who are recipients of NDIS funding,” said Francisco.
Imran also connected Francisco to our internal Wellness team to gain perspective with regards to current market trends in terms of employment and gain insight to further motivate him to reach his goals.
“Soon Francisco will be starting his dream job, working independently for NDIS as a self-employed Psychotherapist Counsellor,” said Imran.
“Job Coach, Imran, has always shown me great warmth, regard, and interest in what I have been doing and my endeavours to set up my business,” said Francisco.
