27-year-old, Vida, is a refugee now living in Australia. She was experiencing financial stress when she first connected with atWork Australia.
She was supported with food and fuel vouchers in her first few weeks with atWork Australia to alleviate some of the stress so Vida could focus on her employment goals.
Vida was excited by fitness, health and beauty.
Together, Vida and her Job Coach, Wendy, explored career goals and pathway into self-employment. Job Coach Wendy encouraged Vida and shared that atWork Australia would be able to support her with a course of her choice, Lash technician.
“It was so great to see Vida super excited about the course and making plans to start their own business after the course,” said Wendy.
During her study, Vida expressed that she was living with stress, trauma and anxiety. She was connected to our Wellness Services for additional support.
Vida is now well on her way to starting her own business. She has obtained an ABN number and is working through all the administrative requirements of starting her own business including hygiene checks and insurance.
Building a clientele in self-employment can take some time, so to continue her momentum, Vida was connected to an employer working early morning shifts. This would allow Vida to generate income while starting to see clients at her own business.
“Wendy took the time to get to know the goals I had in mind and together we worked out the steps to achieve them,” said Vida.
“We were able to quickly secure a spot in a course I was very excited to complete. I’ve now completed the course and have gotten my foot in the door, all within a couple months.”
