“Job Coach, Nevayah, made me feel like me again, like a person, and not an illness,” said Amber.
Inclusive Employment Australia client, Amber, was about to give up on finding work due to her health and wellness.
“I had no desire to find employment, as the doctor kept having a new diagnosis for me, which would then impact my mental health,” said Amber.
“Amber doubted herself and felt as if she was getting nowhere,” said Job Coach, Nevayah.
“When I met Nevayah, she instantly had a positive vibe about her, so much so to the point where we clicked instantly, I felt comfortable, safe and less vulnerable. Nevayah never saw me as a number or labelled me as a “person with a disability”.” Nevayah worked with Amber where she was at in her journey. By listening and understanding Amber, she was able to encourage Amber to continue to attend appointments.
“When I first saw Nevayah, I explained to her that I was getting another medical certificate, Nevayah said, “no worries, but I would love to support you”. That is when I realised that Nevayah was putting no pressure on me and I decided to keep attending my appointments, which has ultimately led me to find paid employment as well as build my confidence,” said Amber.
Nevayah first supported Amber to gain a copy of her birth certificate, which was required to gain the identification she would need to start work.
After two months, Amber then let Nevayah know she was interviewing for a job in a café. Her first job in 24 years.
“Nevayah was the first person I thought to call when I found out I was successful with the job, as I knew she would be proud of me,” said Amber.
“I am so incredibly grateful for Nevayah, this has been life changing.”
