Vanguard Laundry is a social enterprise based in Toowoomba. They deliver ‘laundry services with heart’ providing employment opportunities for those who face barriers to employment.
atWork Australia and Vanguard Laundry connected at a local jobs expo, and since then, the partnership has resulted in five of atWork Australia’s clients finding meaningful employment.
“Working with atWork Australia has made a genuine difference to our employment program,” said Chloe from Vanguard Laundry.
“Their referrals help us connect with work ready people who have the motivation and capability to succeed and who simply need someone to give them a shot. This partnership enables us to create real employment opportunities for people who need a step up into work.”
Vanguard Laundry host information sessions at the local atWork Australia sites so that clients can learn more about the roles and meet the employer in a familiar setting. They can also participate in a walk through at the Vanguard Laundry facility.
From here, clients who are interested are supported into employment.
18-year-old client, Lyndon* is one client who has been supported by atWork Australia into a role with Vanguard Laundry.
Lyndon had never held paid employment before his role as a laundry assistant. This opportunity provided him with a chance to add to his resume and begin his journey in employment.
The Vanguard Laundry team are in regular contact with atWork Australia to ensure clients have all the support they need to successfully maintain their employment. With many of atWork Australia clients now expressing they are open to picking up additional hours.
