“After I put my life on pause to take care of my mum, I fell behind on my future,” said client, Mia.
“atWork Australia helped me get my future career on the right path.”
20-year-old, Mia, had limited experience in hospitality and felt she was behind in starting a career.
She connected with the atWork Australia team in Davoren Park, and shared with her Job Coach, Rosalie, that she was ready to start a career.
Mia expressed interest in gaining an apprenticeship. Rosalie then recommended to Mia to attend one of atWork Australia’s First Steps to Success events. An event which brings together employers, training organisations and community supports into one familiar location for clients to network with.
Mia attended and built confidence speaking with employers. On the day she met with Career Employment Group (CEG) who connect people to a range of apprenticeships.
This was exactly what Mia was looking for. She chatted with the organisation and then advised her Job Coach Rosalie that she was interested in pursuing an apprenticeship through them.
Rosalie and Employer Engagement Consultant, Emma, worked with CEG and identified a carpentry apprenticeship that would suite Mia.
The atWork Australia team then supported Mia to purchase high visibility clothing, and participate in driving lessons, as holding a driver’s licence is a key requirement for trades people.
Mia is looking forward to starting her apprenticeship and will continue to be supported by atWork Australia as she starts this next chapter on her employment journey.“After not working for so long, I couldn’t be anymore grateful and pleased,” said Mia.
“I can’t believe how bright my future has become.”
“I couldn’t be more excited and thrilled to start my apprenticeship,” said Mia.
