Star performer Hani was recently interviewed about his work as an atWork Australia Job Coach and this is what he had to say.

“Helping someone who doesn’t think they can work, to build their self-esteem and then securing them a job, gives you a sense of purpose you don’t get in a lot of roles,” says atWork Australia, Job Coach, Hani Al Hassan. “I left a job in Architectural 3D Modelling to pursue my passion for helping people in the community and have never looked back,” he adds.

“No two days are ever the same,” adds Hani. “You’re always meeting new people and building your local network. After a while you even get to see people that you’ve placed into entry-level roles come back to you as hiring managers, which is very rewarding,” he says.

While being a people person is a must, it’s passion that makes a successful Job Coach continues Hani, “I’d tell anyone who loves working with people and has a desire to make a positive difference in their community to consider becoming a Job Coach. atWork Australia has a fantastic culture because we are all passionate about what we do. For example, if one of my colleagues has a role that would be perfect for a client of mine, they’ll let me know rather than try to place a less-suited candidate of their own. We want to see our clients, and each other, succeed!

Like any industry, you have to love what you do to be the best at it. The nature of the job is that you have to always be on the lookout for opportunities to place your clients, so that passion will keep your eye on the prize.

Clients often come to us with low self-esteem and misconceptions about their ability to work, which have been learned over long periods. It’s our job to break that down and help them to understand and trust their abilities.”

Job Coach Hani is empathetic toward all client’s barriers and health concerns as well as being conscious that, starting a new job, for someone living with disability, injury or health condition can exacerbate their symptoms. Hani’s credo is to remain positive throughout the myriad of challenging and unpredictable circumstances that are thrown his way so that clients feel supported and respected.

No two clients are the same and Hani has proven his agility in his work by tailoring his experience for each client, in order to get the best outcome for them.

Hani ensures that he is up to date with the local job market, connecting clients to the most appropriate opportunities. Hani remarked, “A client may have a range of strengths, but no idea how to use them”, it then becomes his job to join the dots on their behalf  to ensure they have the best possible chance of gaining a sustainable role that is right for them.
