Quote reads "Bronwyn is thriving and thoroughly enjoying her work with her employer." Rachel Job Coach New South Wales

Bronwyn may live with disability, but she didn’t let that hold her back when she needed to find work after 30 years of caring for someone else.

A Maryland local, Bronwyn lives with osteoarthritis, a respiratory disorder and a lifelong learning disability. At 54, she was no longer required as a carer and found herself looking for work that would fit with her disability.

Daunted by what seemed an impossible task, Bronwyn approached atWork Australia and was introduced to Job Coach, Rachael.

Rachael, along with Employer Engagement Consultant, Ashleigh, worked closely with Bronwyn to find employment that suited her physical and mental barriers.

And although Bronwyn had little experience, skills or qualifications, the team were able to guide her toward sustainable work.

Rachael referred Bronwyn to the internal Jobs Now program. This weekly support group helps job seekers with résumé and cover letter writing, interview skills, where to look for the right jobs, marketing yourself to potential employers, networking skills and more.

It’s the perfect way for job seekers to share tips and support one another.

Bronwyn was also offered financial support for clothing and shoes suitable for job interviews.

With the support of the atWork Australia team, Bronwyn soon found meaningful and suitable, long-term employment as a catering assistant.

Rachael says, “Bronwyn is thriving and thoroughly enjoying her work with her employer.”

Thanks to Rachael and Ashleigh’s consistent support, open communication and guidance throughout her journey with atWork Australia, Bronwyn is excited for what her future holds. She is also thankful for the continued support from In-Work Support Consultant, Kelly who she maintains regular contact with.

Bronwyn has some sound advice for others who might find themselves in a similar position to her.

“Keep trying, just keep putting one foot in front of the other and you will get there. Don’t give up! I am so thankful for the help and support of Rachael, Ashleigh and Kelly,” she says.
