Roger came to atWork Australia via one of our Ingleburn, NSW offices, where he met his Job Coach Mohammed. Roger was at a time in his life where he was struggling to find a good Disability Employment Services provider who could help him find a job that was suited to his skillset and experience. It was also important to Roger that his new role had longevity, a role that he could see himself in for the longer term.
Roger came with many years of experience as an Automotive Electrician but no academic qualifications, certifications or training. He had been struggling to find a job for around 6 months and he felt this was due to his age and medical conditions, including his mental health condition.
When Roger and Mohammed met, Mohammed could see that Roger was lacking confidence, due to his recent job knockbacks. Mohammed was quick to help Roger find jobs that could be suitable for him – to increase his confidence that there are roles out there that could suit Roger’s skills and experience.
Within only one week Mohammed found Roger a local role as an Automotive Electrician working with a very reputable company located very close to Roger’s home. atWork Australia helped Roger prepare for his interview and supported him financially with purchasing clothing for his interview.
Roger was extremely excited when he was offered the job, and has felt a complete shift in his life, for the good. “Now that I have good, local work with a great company here in Ingleburn, I feel like I have a whole new lease on life. Working gives me back my purpose. I am using my many years of skills and I can feel that my experience is appreciated at work. My new job has even improved my hypertension,” Roger said.
