Living with a hearing impairment, 26-year-old Emmanuel was a fully qualified butcher struggling to find employment.
Emmanuel came to atWork Australia’s Strathpine office in QLD seeking assistance and support to find work. He found this personalised support in his Disability Employment Services (DES) Job Coach, Katie.
When Katie first met Emmanuel, she knew with his experience it was a matter of building his profile with local employers. Taking a reverse marketing approach, Katie spoke with a number of local businesses that could benefit from Emmanuel’s butchering experience.
Katie was able to arrange a trial for Emmanuel at Terry Orreal’s Quality Meats in Brendale that had the potential to lead into employment. While the owner Terry had never previously used an employment provider, he was happy to have been partnered with atWork Australia for this opportunity.
The experience gained at this work trial has successfully led to employment with one of Australia’s top meat suppliers, A La Carte Meats in the local area of Morningside.
Emmanuel himself was delighted in receiving this job opportunity and in the support, Katie provided him saying “I am grateful you believe in me.”
