From Albany, Daniel, 34, worked in a meat processing factory for quite some time until he had to leave due to an injury.
Daniel spent some time overcoming his injury and working on himself whilst engaging with his Job Coach Michelle at the atWork Australia Albany office.
Daniel had his heart set on going back to his previous employment but unfortunately was unable to return. He lacked confidence and was quite anxious and struggled with motivation. He was not entirely sure where to go next once he found out he was unable to return to his previous role.
Michelle and Daniel worked on his resume, building his confidence, overcoming his anxiety and lack of confidence and exploring other suitable career pathways.
One day, Michelle suggested to Daniel to consider a role in Traffic Control – something Daniel never saw himself doing. Michelle supported Daniel with doing his white card, enrolling him into a Traffic Control course, and supporting him through the course until Daniel was fully accredited. Soon after, Daniel was successful in gaining a position as a Traffic Controller in Albany.
Daniel was very excited when he heard the good news and couldn’t have been happier with the outcome. He also adds: “You have improved my outlook on life and I now look forward to my future”.
Michelle also assisted with providing work clothing and PPE which was required for his new role. Most importantly, Michelle regularly checked in with Daniel to see if he was okay and if he needed any support at work or had any concerns.
His new employer is delighted to have Daniel on their team and says: “Daniel is very happy. He is always at work before his shifts start and does the job which is asked of him. He is pleasing to work with and a great fit for the team.”
Michelle adds: “When I first met Daniel he wasn’t sure where to go next. He was in a bit of a predicament as to what his future entailed. He went from lacking confidence and motivation and really an unknown future to not only working in a stable position, but one he also enjoys.” She is delighted about the positive outcome and says: “I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Daniel. He has never missed an appointment with me and was always willing to listen to suggestions and always gave his best.”
