Natalia had always loved working in childcare but chasing active children for a living had taken a toll on her physical wellbeing.
After taking some time off work to recover physically, Natalia soon realised that her dream job in childcare was no longer feasible. Once her health started to improve, she began to look for sustainable employment but felt her options may be restricted by her limited mobility.
After searching and applying for various roles over 12 months, Natalia approached atWork Australia and met with Disability Employment Services Job Coach, Gaurav, from the Canterbury office in NSW.
Gaurav and Natalia talked about her work history and how they could together overcome any barriers to future employment. They discussed interview preparation, motivational factors and options for further vocational training. It wasn’t long before Natalia’s confidence began to grow.
Gaurav also worked with Natalia on her résumé, highlighting her strengths before contacting employers with roles suited to Natalia’s physical abilities.
Gaurav secured an interview for Natalia with a local college who were looking for an Administration Clerk, which Gaurav thought would be ideal for Natalia.
When Natalia was told she had been offered the role, Gaurav says “she jumped for joy, and the smile on her face showed that her confidence and motivation had been restored.”
By gaining sustainable employment, Natalia once again felt valued and appreciated.
“My Mum always told me that an angel will always come from somewhere and give me the happiness I have been looking for… Gaurav, you have been an angel for me,” Natalia told Gaurav.
Since getting her new job, Natalia can’t stop thanking Gaurav and the team at atWork Australia.
“I belong again to the real world. I now have a reason and purpose to get up and get ready for work again,” Natalia says.
